The 18th century was a wealth of knowledge, exploration and rapidly growing technology and expanding record-keeping made possible by
advances in the printing press. In its determination to preserve the century of revolution, Gale initiated a revolution of its own: digitization of epic proportions to preserve these invaluable works in the largest archive of its kind. Now for the first time these high-quality digital copies of original 18th century manuscripts are available in print, making them highly accessible to libraries, undergraduate students, and independent scholars.
Delve into what it was like to live during the eighteenth century by

I used to walk among the flowers
In the June and April showers
As I gazed at the vast selection
I was pointed in your direction
There were roses, buttercups,
Forget-me-nots, and Johnny jump-ups
The morning glories and carnations
Added to this floral sensation
But as I saw them all around me,
Only one could astound me
One I had not seen before
Caught my sight and interest more
This flower had a brilliant smell
It's fragrance I thought I knew so well
The aroma; Oh so incredibly sweet
Filled my body with a pleasurable heat
